FIFA World Cup 2010 in South Africa

In June and July of 2010, the whole world was glued to their TV sets, watching as the giants of football (or soccer) battled for world supremacy. Although Spain took home the title and the trophy, there is a lot of controversy over who the real winners are in 2010's World Cup. Did South Africa's investment of time and tax dollars pay off? Will it ever? Or did the huge multinational companies who sponsor the World Cup, like Coca-Cola, take advantage of the host nation. The Paper Experts has several prewritten papers that relate to this subject:

34338 Future Trends in Televised Sports

The most dominant future trend of televised sport exists in the manner in which sporting programs are brought to the public. Over the last few decades the alterations in cable and satellite television have created a new framework for what can be viewed on television and the audiences that are targeted for that viewing. Free traditional programming on the other hand, has become an arena that carried with it staunch criticism and that attempts to manipulate the world of sports to conform to societal expectations ("Future of Sports", 2006, sec. 1). One manner in which this occurs is through the advertisers that have historically supporting sporting events. Beer, soda and fast food companies, however, are often condemned for their sponsorship of programming on traditional channels because children have access to the commercial content. This has caused these advertisers to begin to back away from their support of sporting events and for sports leaders to consider that when they loose sponsorship they are loosing funding that keeps their sport alive ("Future of Sports Markets", 2006, sec. 2).
